परिचय

Central Veterinary Laboratory (CVL) is Nepal’s leading institution for animal health diagnostics and disease prevention. Established in 1995 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, CVL offers nationwide diagnostic services for animal diseases. CVL aims to detect animal diseases early to help prevent their occurrence and spread. It conducts various advanced laboratory tests on samples collected through outbreak investigations, disease surveillance, and farmer submissions. These tests mainly target economically significant and zoonotic diseases. As Nepal’s national reference laboratory for animal health, CVL continually updates its diagnostic technologies and follows its own standard operating procedures, test protocols, and quality guidelines. Its dedication to quality is reflected in its participation in both national and international quality assurance programs. CVL also collaborates with international laboratories for test verification, working toward international accreditation and certification. In line with recommendations from the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), CVL is upgrading its facilities. With the evolving global and national landscapes, CVL and its partner laboratories are broadening their roles, tackling new challenges, and striving to improve animal health and productivity in Nepal.
